To Congo... The Journey.
My heart is overwhelmed
and full
from the generosity
& love
my friends and family
have shown me
these past few
months
as I have
been raising
funds
to go to Congo...
that place where
most see darkness...
but I see
light...
light in the
people;
light
piercing
the darkness...
Is it dangerous?
Well...yes.
Is it crazy?
...perhaps.
Do I have a long way
to go?
Yes.
but Congo is
where my heart
is,
and that is the
only way
I know to express it.
God put Congo
on my heart years
ago
and now He is
finally
allowing me
to see
with my own eyes
what I've dedicated
my life to,
the reason I
paint...
one of
my purposes
here on earth,
in this fleeting life...
to feel the rich
African soil beneath
my feet;
to hear the drums,
the heartbeat
of Africa;
to see
the light
in the children's
eyes,
the strength,
the resilience...
to hear their
stories
from their own
lips...
to watch
the sun
rise
&
set;
to leave
forever changed
&
better equipped
to bring
their voices
& their stories
to the world
through my art
&
my words...
"Religion that God our Father accepts as
pure and faultless is this:
to look after orphans and widows
in their distress, and
to keep oneself from being polluted by
the world."
- James 1:27
