day exploring
the city of Boston;
surrounded by
historic landmarks & buildings,
soaking in the
importance & richness of
the city's history
as I sip on a Cappuccino
from the Starbucks on
the corner,
trying to warm myself
after being in the bitter cold;
skimming through the
pages of
the old books I
purchased from
an old used book shop
down the block-
another book about
Leonardo da Vinci
[yes, I'm obsessed]
as well as
Mark Twain's
"Letters from Earth".
My body is glad
to be resting
after walking down
the long cobblestone
streets
all over Boston,
along the
Freedom Trail,
stepping into
history for
a day...
I often think
that I was meant
to live in a different
era...
perhaps some
ancient civilization...
this old soul
feels out of place
in the hustle &
bustle
of the modern world.
where careers, success,
and making a name
for oneself
take the forefront
against community,
simplicity & relationships...
where macbooks, iphones,
& other new technology and
toys
become more exciting
& fulfilling
than
the rush
of a waterfall,
the majesty & strength
of an oak tree,
the silence
in the middle of
a forest,
the beauty
of a
rose,
the expanse
of an
open field,
the stillness
of a
lake,
the brilliance
of
the sun...
