a letter to the graduate...

Dearest brother,

I cannot believe that this day
has come! Today marks the end of
a chapter of your life and the
beginning of another. Already, you
have done more and experienced
more places and cultures than many
do in a lifetime... and you have so
much more ahead of you!
You really can do anything you
set your mind to, ya know.
ANYTHING is possible if you work
hard enough and are passionate
enough. It takes both - passion and
hard work. Chasing your dreams is
not always easy, but it is totally
worth it. NEVER be content to settle
for the ordinary & the mundane. Set
your goals high... so high that they
nearly seem unattainable... then start
doing what you can, what is necessary,
and what is possible... before you
know it, you will be doing the
impossible!
I am a few years ahead of you
in this whole life thing, and my
experiences tell me that all one needs
is enough drive and determination to
do incredible, unexpected things. Life
really is an adventure - a crazy, weird,
exciting, unpredictable adventure.
My biggest piece of advice is this:
become a student of life... both inside
the classroom and outside. Take in
everything, but also question everything.
Learn from your teachers, peers, family,
acquaintances, etc. Learn from other
people's lives and mistakes, so you
don't have to learn the hard way. Keep
in mind, you will learn one way or the
other... it is up to you whether it will be
a painful experience or one that will
change your life for the better.
My second piece of advice is this:
look outside yourself. Look at the
people around you, and out into the
world and ask yourself, "How can I
make a positive impact on the world?
How can I leave this place better than
the way I found it? How can I use my
experiences, talents, passions and

influence to help others?"
       Something to remember: God will
be with you no matter where life takes
you. He will come through no matter
how bleak things may look at times.
There were days that I had no gas
and no money to get back home from
school... there have been days that I
was not sure where my next meal would
come from... there have been nights I
didn't know where I would lay my head
till morning... times I didn't think I'd be
able to pay rent or my bills that month...
but God has always  given me what I
need right in time. Trust Him with that,
okay? Never take anything for granted.
You have no idea how privileged you
are... how good we have had it. No, we
never had expensive toys or cars, but
we have always had what we needed,
and then some.
I am so proud to be your sister. I
cannot wait to see what you do with
your life! Remember to always be true
to what you love... if you do, you are
capable of anything, and have the ability
to change the world. You. can. change.
the world. So, it's time to put your big
boy pants on... put on your game face...
establish your goals and dreams... and
step forward, into the beautiful
unknown and make your mark on the
world.

Love you more than you know,

                                            Morgan.

"For I know the plans I have for you,"
declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you
and not to harm you, plans to give you a
hope and a future."
                                      Jeremiah 29:11
